Custom DevelopmentIn projects where there is a significant level of customisation or development it is vital to ensure that this is planned and controlled effectovely to meet the customer’s requirments in an accurate and timely fashion. CIBER’s 4D methodology is a proprietary project management system that is designed to respond to the specific and often complex nature of business intergation engagements. This rapid development process is grounded in discrete phases that “ensure” the on-time and within-budget delivery of a project, with maximum visibility for tracking progress during each stage of development. This process is governed by phases, each of which is separated by “quality gates” approved by clients to ensure deliverables are consistent with expectations. |

Discover – The purpose of the Discover stage is to determine precisely what needs to be accomplished by the application being developed, without concern with specifically how to accomplish it. This is done using standard analysis practices, user interviews, joint application development meetings (JAD sessions) and documentation reviews, resulting in the preparation of the Analysis Document. Design – The Design stage of the project defines how the functions identified in the Discover stage will be accomplished. The purpose of design is to take the scope of a system and create an architectural framework with three key outputs; A design document that clearly describes all important aspects of the system, including business requirements, as well as how these requirements are implemented; a project plan that describes the conceptual approach for achieving the goals identified during the Discover stage and described in detail during the Design stage; an assessment of high-risk areas with the objective of either eliminating or minimising these risks for both CIBER and the customer. |
Develop – The Develop stage involves the physical construction of the application. The activities completed during this stage include: Building the creative and technical components of the application, Testing the application and Documenting the application. Deploy – The Deploy stage performs all of the tasks necessary to prepare both the application and the organisation for the production release of the system. The activities completed during this stage include: Implementing the application testing plan, Implementing the training plan, Transitioning to the production environment, Going live, Implementing the operations plan, Planning the next release and Holding a project debriefing meeting. |
